 Kenya Association of Air Operators Appoints Eng. Liz Aluvanze as CEO 

26th September 2022 | Nairobi, Kenya: The Executive Committee of the Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO), a National umbrella body whose role is to promote, foster, enhance, and protect the interests of those engaged in the Aviation Industry and allied businesses is happy to announce Eng. Liz Aluvanze as the new CEO. This follows the retirement of Col. (Rtd) E. K. Waithaka after being at the helm for 25 years.

Liz Aluvanze brings a wealth of experience as an Air Transport professional with knowledge and skills in Air Transport Strategic Management, Engineering, Regulatory Policy and Air Law, Client Relationship Management and Contract Negotiations. Liz is an Air Transport Masters graduate of Cranfield University and holds a (BEng) in Aerospace Engineering from Manchester. Prior to her appointment she worked at the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) and has worked with various airlines including Kenya Airways and Fastjet.

Mr. Mbuvi Ngunze – Chairman of KAAO Commented:

“The Executive Committee appreciates the leadership and expertise the association received from outgoing CEO Col. (Rtd) E. K. Waithaka, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors. Col (Rtd) has had an illustrious career and his experience and expertise will continue to be a great resource to the association including the management, staff and the air transport industry. 

During his time, the Association has consolidated its efforts in advocating on issues such as regulations, taxes on many of the industry purchases and services, infrastructure, levelling the playing field for different actors in the industry and aviation policy amongst other areas. KAAO has over this period managed to create industry cohesion and works closely with Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) and Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), Government Ministries, as well as other related umbrella bodies that impact its members’ interests such as Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), Kenya Tourism Federation (KTF), Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE)”

The Kenya Association of Air Operators (KAAO)was created in 1965 whose purpose is to promote, foster and protect the interests of those engaged in civil aviation and associated industries in Kenya. KAAO’s mission is to promote and enhance a safe, efficient and sustainable national aviation industry by encouraging adherence and maintenance of high civil aviation safety and practices and prides itself in being the voice for the industry. KAAO category of members comprises of Ordinary Membership which is available to persons and through a nominated representative to organizations in possession of a license to operate aircraft for hire and reward issued by Kenya Civil Aviation Board and an Air Operator’s Certificate issued by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority, Associate Membership which is available to owners and operators of aircraft not covered by ordinary membership and to individuals and organizations involved in civil aviation and associated industries and Honorary Membership which may be granted to individuals or organizations who may not normally fall into any of the above categories but who may be deemed by the members of the Executive Committee of the Association at their sole discretion to be desirable members of the Association.
